Cathy Henry
June Portch
Kimberly Schutta
Kirsta Skowbo

I also want to recognize and thank Ellen Hicks for her monetary contribution
to the WASHRM team.

Our team goal was set at $150.00, but we surpassed that and raised $420.00!!

Please take a moment to read the article below that will be posted to our website as some of our team members shared why March of Dimes is important to them.

The Winchester Area Society for Human Resource Management (WASHRM) formed a
team to support the March of Dimes. The mission of the March of Dimes is to
improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth
and infant mortality.

WASHRM members Marcie Edmonson, Cathy Henry, June Portch, Kimberly Schutta,
Kirsta Skowbo and Debera Taylor surpassed the team goal of $150 and raised
$420.00.

The March of Dimes Walk was held on Saturday, May 16, 2009. Three team
members participated.

Debera Taylor was proud to support the March of Dimes as her 16-year old daughter, Alyssa, was born three months prematurely. She weighed in at a whopping1 pound, 10 ounces. She spent over two months in the hospital before reaching the weight of 4 pounds, 5 ounces before being sent home with a heart monitor for apnea alerts. Without the funding of March of Dimes the research needed that helped support Alyssa’s first few months of life would not have sustained. Debera walks in the March of Dime’s walk each year in support of her daughter and is graciously thankful.

Marcie Edmonson, who served as Team Captain, was extremely grateful for her first experience with the March of Dimes. “For me, this experience was very personal. My cousin, Michael, was born prematurely twenty-one years ago. He lives a happy, healthy life today. In fact, he’s an upcoming senior at San Jose University in California. Despite the distance, he’s also one of my best friends.” She shares that the experience really made her think about
all of the babies that are special to families just like her cousin that don’t survive or have permanent birth defects. “It really meant a lot to me to be able to walk in his honor. Thank you so much to the March of Dimes and to WASHRM.”

WASHRM thanks all team members for their efforts and participation. We are very proud of you!

Thank you!
